Configuring git for mac

Let's just start checking git is correctly installed in the mac

git --version

> git version 2.30.1 (Apple Git-130)

Good looks like is working, now It's a good idea to set username and email

git config --global user.name "Your name"

git config --global user.email "your@email.com"

Now you have git customized and your name will appear on the commits

The next step is to generate an ssh key

Let's verify that de ssh folder exists

ls -a | grep .ssh

If not created then use

mkdir .ssh

Now generate the custom ssh key for your email

ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C "your@email.com"

Just press enter on the setup

Now you can copy the generated ssh key

cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub

With this key you can go to github / gitlab settings and add it

and whoala you are done
